Your Questions About Air Purifiers Smoke

January 28th, 2012

Charles asks…

What’s the best air purifier or cleaner for removing cigarette smoke?

My apartment gets a lot of cigarette smoke from a neighbor. What air purifiers or air cleaners have you used that have been most effective in removing cigarette smoke in particular?

Thanks!

ometnico answers:

First step is to tell your neighbor you’ll bash there head in if they keep filling your apt with smoke. Aside from that, I use 3 holmes full room filters with the ionizing option that works really well

William asks…

can an air purifier help reduce cigarette smoke smell?

Im moving into a new apartment. Not sure if i can smoke or not. was looking into buying one of these. do they work good? do they work at all?

ometnico answers:

Never met an air purifier that could remove cigarette smell but maybe yes it would reduce it some. Problem is that youll probably spend a ton replacing filters. The best thing – go to WalMart and in the candle section they have a white candle in a fat (maybe 4″ in diameter) short (maybe 4″ tall) jar called “smokers candle” (the smaller jar ones just dont seem to work as well). You can use that but really, if you ever want to get your deposit back, just smoke outside.

Your Questions About Air Purifiers Reviews

January 27th, 2012

Sharon asks…

Does the Ionic Pro Air purifier work ?

I’ve come to realize that seeing the sun shine is great, but seeing the reflection of millions of like lint and stuff in the air is probably what is triggering the Asthma in my brother and me . And Looking at reviews, I saw that lots of people said it works great ! and then there were lots that said it stopped working after two days, for the Ionic Pro Air purifier.

Anyone have any idea if this really works or not? I really don’t want to get websites to reviews, I want personal opinions. And if this doesn’t work as great, what would you recommend in the $100.00 -200.00 Price Range ? :)

Thanks so much for reading and answering my question! Everyone’s answers is greatly appreciated !

ometnico answers:

I use the same one… It was a little pricey but it works for me. No complaints and it didn’t stop working at all. :)

Mandy asks…

Ionic Breeze versus a HEPA Filter Air Purifier?

I am trying to minnimize the “stale air” smell mixed with food odors that we have in our apartment. My spouse is CRAVING fresh air but not sure which one I should get. My grandmother had an IONIC Breeze type unit years ago and I loved the smell but not sure my spouse would respond the same. They nearly hate everything that I like so I am thinking about the air purifier with the charcoal insert. Anybody have any luckw ith these? The “customer reviews” on Amazon.com and other websites seem as if they are written by the manufacturers anyway.

ometnico answers:

HEPA and a carbon filter would be my choice. Most of the Ionic Breeze type devices emit ozone, which is a major lung irritant and can cause asthma-like symptoms in just about any one. Not to mention that ozone is very tough on furnishings.

Want to read a scary story about ozone-producing “air purifiers”?

The upshot was, Karen ditched the “purifier” she’d borrowed from a friend, and her asthma symptoms were gone in a few days…

Your Questions About Air Purifiers For Mold

January 26th, 2012

George asks…

How to improve indoor air quality and help with allergies?

My niece has developed allergies. I was suggesting to her mom that she try to improve the indoor air quality in the home by reducing allergens in the air, such as dust, mold spores etc. The docors have told her hat she has slight sensitivity to pollen and dust mites. But her mom told me she gets sick in the winter time, so I asked her if she had any mold in her home. It turn out she had a very serious mold problem. The walls in the house get very cold and damp (the house in POLAND). So apart from cleaning the mold, and adding insulation ec. would it be better to get an air dehumififier for the home which should reduce moisture or an air purifier which is supposed to help remove mold spores from the air as well as other allergens??? any oher suggestions???help i’m so confused

ometnico answers:

I would go for the dehumidifier. You can “clean” the air without an air purifier by doing things such as… Having bare floors where possible, washing bedding in hot water and regularly vacuuming her mattress (and replace pillow if old), using allergy covers on mattress and pillow, cleaning house regularly, and for air quality, house plants do a wonderful job (just make sure she’s not allergic to them), etc.

Jenny asks…

I intend to buy an air purifier for my apt and would like some recommendations as to what kind to get.?

I don’t want a HEPA one as the filters are too expensive. I do want one that will do the entire apt (is effective through walls), does not produce ozone and costs less than $300. It should destroy mold, dust mites, dust and eliminate odors.

ometnico answers:

If you dont want ozone dont get one with ionizer. Also look for ones with ratings on the box.

It can sounds humorous to claim that your work is causing you to be sick, but Blueair 603 consider how quality of air can have an impact on one’s wellbeing, you often see how there’s truth from this statement. Meaning a space containing great brightness, the resources and programs needed, and indoor quality of air that might be healthy along with relaxing to figure in. Because some of the products employed by artists produce volatile airborne chemicals and various other pollutants, you need to select an air cleanser that can take them out. Allow me to share 1 features that could insure any cleaner will always make your art form studio a new productive along with healthy destination for a be.

Added productive Coach Gustavo Simpson, “For the general public Daikin comes with a large offering of different air conditioning units for choose.” These devices include selection mounted devices, floor for you to ceiling terminated, and inverter multi-split air conditioning units. Right until somewhat just, they offered their items on tv set only.

Still, home heating/air health and fitness systems are made to heat along with cool. Even though the Whispure has a bigger capture cost of smallish microns caused by its HEPA filtration, the amount increase from your Honeywell 10210 into the Whispure is definitely shocking. There are still other promising ways for killing. Numerous involve components treated filtration, hydroxyl radicals what i mean the for that reason called plasma home air cleaners.

As opposed to other home air cleaners cleaners from this price selection, you will quickly realize that Blueair filters Ionic Purifier is simply as strength efficient. It might be alright please turn the item on while nobody reaches home. Still, many people miss that the entire effectiveness of any HEPA home air cleaner truly varies subject to where it’s always placed in your residence. It is often accepted who ozone turbines pose a new danger for you to human tissues because ozone blueair 650e extremely reactive oxidizing real estate agent. If you have bad your allergies and difficulty in breathing, getting a powerful air-purifier with regards to home can be a wise expenditure of money. If you shouldn’t have bad difficulty in breathing, you can easily still gain from having an home air cleaner because it can help prevent a person from actually developing them all. They have a HEPA filtration (High Effectiveness Particulate Air) along with negative ions. The HEPA wrecks all incredibly small allergens (it might be recommended that should be changed likely every 3 a long time, depending in the mode associated with utilization). Pretty very much every discuss purification product available to buy shall be compared to protect against true HEPA cleaners. A humidifier may also help keep your private home more relaxing and take care of skin, lips and in many cases furniture coming from excessive dryness. Regretably, the humidifier on your own does little to ease the trouble of colds, flu along with allergies. That’s among the reasons THAT I so recommend the IQAir home air cleaners.

Your Questions About Air Purifiers

January 25th, 2012

Lisa asks…

Do air purifiers blow cold air?

I keep the temp warm in my apartment but the weird thing is that my air purifier blows cold air all the time. Do all air purifiers blow cold air no matter what temp it is?

ometnico answers:

Should circulate the air from the room in order to purify it, must seem cool from the fan.

Chris asks…

Why do HEPA air purifiers need replacement filters?

I’ve been able to find Ionic air purifiers that don’t need replacement filters, but I have not been able to find a HEPA air purifier that does not need a replacement filter. Not only do they require replacing the filter but the filters are very expensive.

ometnico answers:

The reason why you can find Ionic air purifiers that don’t need replacement filters is because they work in a different way from hepa filters. Ionic purifiers charge particles in the air such as dust or pollen and then those particles pass over metal plates with the opposite charge. The air particles stick to the plates like two magnets stuck together. From there, you wash the plates periodically.

These are quiet and easy to maintain, but they don’t have nearly the quality filtration of the HEPA system.

Hepa filters work to trap the dust and particles in the air with cardboard or micro filters. The result is that 99.97% of all particles are trapped. The filters are so expensive because they are designed to capture every tiny particle in the air. If you have allergies, nothing is better for you than a HEPA filter.

Mandy asks…

Does anyone have an air purifier? Does it work?

Does anyone have an air purifier and does it work? Do is help breathing problems, pet dander, dust, smell problems? I’m thinking about buying this air purifier, it’s the only one in my budget with good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-TrueAir-04381-Allergen/dp/B00008R9PG/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1202666829&sr=8-1

Also will an air purifier still have an effect if you use it in a room a little bit bigger than it’s reccomended size?

ometnico answers:

Yep, I’ve used them and had no problem. I don’t know about this brand though. If the room is a little bigger it is no big deal, just shut the door. I was surprised at the difference I could tell in the air. I didn’t read everything about the one you are considering, but check on the filter prices. Those have to be replaced every so often and can be expensive. You might want to consider buying one that is more expensive and comes with a filter that is reusable. Just something to think about. :-)

Sandy asks…

Does anyone know if the Sharper Image’s Ionic Breeze air purifier really works?

I’ve seen many negative reviews and some positive. Don’t know whether to take advantage of the money back guarantee…

ometnico answers:

I’ve heard nothing but bad things about them. Don’t have personal experience with the full sized ones, but I bought a car sized ionic breeze from the Sharper Image store on ebay, it worked ok for 2 days then suddenly stopped and wouldn’t work again. They wanted the opriginal packaging for the return but I had tossed the box. Their customer service people were big pains in the a$$ and I had to complain several times before I could get a refund.

Their “money back guarantee” means they guarantee to give you a hard time if you try to return their faulty products.

Your Questions About Air Purifiers For Pet Dander

January 23rd, 2012

Susan asks…

Nasal congestion causing snoring – help!?

During the winter months when we have the heat turned on – I get very stuffed up, especially at night.

We have had our vents and ducts cleaned. I have an air purifier on my side of the bed. A humidifier only makes me more stuffed up, just less thick I guess (tmi, hah).

I have a feeling it is dander from our pets coming through the vents, as I am allergic to all 4 of them. Either that or dust. Typically my allergies dont bother me much unless the animals are all over me for long periods of time.

Is there anything I can use, sprays or anything to keep me from getting congested? I don’t take allergy pills usually, and prefer not to, but I would if it would help.

My partner is tired of hearing me snore and I am tired of feeling like I’ve got a massive head cold every morning and having phlegm and mucous all the time in the winter.
Forgot to mention I have also got asthma. But since I have gotten older I don’t need meds anymore – except the odd shot here and there when I have a really hard time breathing. It’s fairly well controlled now.

ometnico answers:

You might want to try breathe right strips on your nose at night. They don’t stop your sinuses from getting filled but they do help to open you up a bit. I would keep the humidifier because it probably is helping a little. Also, what kind of air purifier are you using? Some of them make the dust settle on the floor and furniture, which would mean you have to vacuum the floor AND the bed every couple of days to keep the dander away.

Helen asks…

Help my parents let me have a cat again?

Last year I had a two week trail of getting a cat/kitten. I was totally unprepared, I was slightly allergic to it(I think its saliva or dander), it went behind the TV and kept going on the dinner table, it left my bathroom(it’s where I kept him) in a mess and it reeked with cat odor. However that was about exactly a year ago. I was unprepared and ignorant at the time, but now I feel I can try again because I’ve thought about all the mistakes I’ve made in the past and corrected them. For my allergy I am going to buy a small air purifier and put it into the room where my cat sleeps, buy the ssscat and x-mat to keep the cat away from certain areas, and clean the litter box twice a week. I haven’t told my parents about me considering getting a cat again, however I do know what they will say and it’s a “no”. I’ve gotten a pet tarantula and I know they’ll use it as an excuse to not letting me own a cat again… What do I have to do to let them earn my trust again? Last year I did let them have my trust however I broke it when I had to return the cat(it was a 2 week thing to see if I really wanted one). Can anyone provide suggestions please? Thanks

ometnico answers:

I kinda had the same problem.
Except it was a different animal, and i wasn’t allergic to them.
Two year ago i bought a one year old hamster and i didn’t clean his cage as a much as i was supposed to, so it ended up smelling really bad. When he turn 2 he past away. The end of last year i really wanted a ferret, and i knew that my mom would have said no because of my hamster. So to show her that i was ready for this and i can be responsible, i help out are the house allot. I would clean my cats kitty litter, do the dishes, do laundry, clean the kitchen, basically clean the whole house. After a month of cleaning things, she finally saw that i really wanted a ferret and that i can be responsible. So since i cleaned the whole house, she new i could take care of a ferret.
So basically show you parents that you can be responsible, and tell them about you idea for your allergy problem. If they do use your tarantula for an excuse, just tell them that you have been taking care of it, and it just proves that your more responsible. Show then how much you really want a cat and how your finally ready for one.

Siedem szczęśliwych liczb » Air-Purifiers – Why Hepa Air-Purifiers is …

January 23rd, 2012

Posted By lovelyjju21 on January 23, 2012

HEPA that stands for High Efficiency Particulate Arrestor is a type of air filter used for cleaning the air specially in equipments like vacuum cleaners. These air-purifiers filter the particles in the airborne environment down to 0.3 microns in size and at a speed-rate efficiency of 99.97%. The HEPA air-purifiers with their high-efficiency level have trimmed the usage of age-old air-cleaners. They not only purify the air but also remove even the smallest microns of allergens like dust, smoke, pollen, animal danders, bacteria and other industrial/chemicals effectively from the atmosphere.

Working of the HEPA air purifiers

The HEPA air cleaners work by filtering the allergens in the air through a HEPA air-filter that traps the particles allowing the clean air to return to the atmosphere. The larger number of times that the air passes through the HEPA filters, the better and cleaner becomes the quality of the air. So till date the HEPA purifiers have proved to be the most tried-and-true air-cleaning instruments. The best part about HEPA air-purifiers is that they never emit any byproducts or secondary pollutants such as ozone and ions.

The main instrument that makes the HEPA purifiers work so efficiently is the fan inside the filter. The fans aid in the trapping of large particles in the fold of the filters while the small particles and chemicals gets attached to the charcoal in the filter.

Some of the HEPA air-purifiers have fans that have a straight design where the air is drawn in from the back of the purifier and blown out through the front of the purifier. These units clean the air specifically and prove to be truly effective for bedrooms and sitting rooms. Others have unidirectional fans that pull the air from all sides of the machine and blow the filtered air out in all directions. These types of HEPA air-purifier are needed for purifying the air in the entire home. So whether it’s the larger particles or the smaller ones, the HEPA air-purifiers can clean the atmosphere completely.

Types of HEPA air-purifiers

The HEPA air-purifiers are hallmark of quality and dependability. The series of HEPA air-purifiers come in two basic configurations: standard with traditional electric motors and the PLUS systems featuring G.E. ECM Variable Speed, low energy motors. Either of these standard HEPA air-purifiers works with digital motor technology that is otherwise unavailable in any other whole-house filtration systems. The HEPA air-purifiers clean the atmosphere of the entire home effectively and instantly.

Benefits of HEPA air purifiers

With their effective technology, the HEPA air purifiers have well stowed away every other air-filters to a corner. They have adopted the same filtration effectiveness as required in hospital surgery rooms for cleaning rooms and in other applications where the removal of harmful respiratory elements are highly necessary.

Following are the benefits of HEPA air-purifiers:

-The compact design enables the purifiers to be easily installed in the homes.

-The patented by-pass approach allows for installation on any heating/cooling systems.

-The self-balancing air flow design adds no resistances to the flow of air.

-The three matched designed air filters like pre-filters, carbon air filters and HEPA air filters help in fast and instant filtering of air.

-These air filters are highly portable and can be installed anywhere in your home.

Your Questions About Air Purifiers Smoke

January 22nd, 2012

George asks…

What is the best car air purifier to get rid of cigarette smoke smell?

I am looking for one that will plug into my cigarette lighter port and will help eliminate the smell of cigarette smoke.

ometnico answers:

Hide CHARCOAL underneath the seats then change out each week (ideally) or every other week.
Charcoal absorbs the nasssstiest smells (like odor from hockey players etc.)

Steven asks…

what is the best air purifier for smoke?

ometnico answers:

For home use, you have two choices:
1. HEPA air cleaners – http://www.smoke-eaters-supply.com/smoke-removal.html
2. Electronic precipitator – http://www.smoke-eaters-supply.com/cigar-smoke-eaters.html
These are the only choices that are effective for smoke. The electronic units are what we put in bars and casinos for smoke removal, but some homeowners don’t like to have to clean them regularly. The next best option is the HEPA air cleaners. Either of these will take care of the smoke, just keep in mind the on-going cost of the HEPA units. Also, not all HEPA units are equal, so I don’t have another brand or style to recommend that would be as effective as the Sun Pure model. The only one that comes close is the IQAir GC and we compare that unit here http://www.smoke-eaters-supply.com/iqair-gc.html Good luck!!
